Some advertising is more sensitive
Some categories require additional information or pre-approval:
Therapeutic products, health products and medical devices must be pre-approved by TAPS.
Alcohol advertising must be pre-approved by LAPPS.
Food and beverage advertising targeting children under 13 requires nutritional information.
Financial services advertising requires a director’s declaration confirming compliance with relevant legislation.
We recommend supplying this information as early as possible.
-
Advertising for therapeutic products & services, health products and medical devices needs to be pre-approved by the Therapeutic Advertising Pre-vetting Service (TAPS).
-
Alcohol advertising needs to be pre-approved by the Liquor Advertising & Promotion Pre-vetting Service (LAPPS).
-
Financial services advertisers need to submit a declaration from a Company Director that their advertising complies with the various securities Acts and regulations.
We cannot approve financial services commercials without a Company Director’s declaration on file. Use CAB’s declaration template or supply a letter on company letterhead.

Food and beverage products advertised during children’s programming must meet minimum nutritional standards. Only products that meet the criteria to be recognised as EVERYDAY or SOMETIMES foods under the Food and Beverage Classification System may be advertised during school-age children’s programming.
Advertisers are required to complete our application for product pre-approval. We strongly recommend that these details are provided before the commercial is produced or media is booked.
